A) Try a "forced" restart of your device using these instructions: Put it on charge for at least half an hour, then, keeping it plugged in, use these gestures:

In rapid sequence, press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the side (power) button. Only when the Apple logo appears (it might take 10-20 seconds), release that button (ignore all other screens that might appear, the one with the "slider" to turn the device off included).

B) If the issue persists, something could have gone wrong during the latest update procedure.

I would try to install a fresh copy of iOS/iPadOS (the latest available/supported by your device model). To do this, create a full backup of your iPhone/iPad (1), then restore it to factory settings (you need a computer to perform this step) and, in the end, set it up as new (2).

When done, restore data from your previously made backup (3).

Follow the instructions provided in these support articles:

(1) How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch – Apple Support

(2) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings – Apple Support

(3) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

If the issue still persists, I suggest that you contact Apple Support directly, using this link:--> Contact Apple for support and service , or make an appointment (*) and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> https://locate.apple.com/choose-country-region . After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.

Regards

Giulio

I understand that there needs to be improvements, updates etc added; but from my perspective (on the surface) it appears that the changes are cosmetic and superficial. My battery is completely stuffed (lasting less than half a day); but every screen has changed its look and user intuitiveness, usability & visual clarity as it is seemingly the last thing considered. Graphics are softened and therefore blurry. I had to remove my secondary wallpaper because it obscured the faded looking apps on the screen; including the new white analogue clock (why analogue?) and calendar.

Garbage update and appropo of absolutely nothing

I hate this update. It’s forcing all kind of changes upon me that I don’t want nor need, and that actually even make it harder to navigate.

I never asked for a transparency h*e*l*l

If they gonna offer transparency than I want to be able to set the color of that transparent item and it’s percentage of transparency myself !!!

And please please stop “simplifying” my interface by hiding, often important often used, buttons in menus or deeper nestings in menus.

Did you send Feedback to Apple using the link that has been provided many times? Telling us what you like or dislike is irrelevant. I honestly don't know of any UI change where every user liked it and you see the same posts here from the past changes too, where ironically now they want the previously disliked UI. You may not remember the Skeuomorphic and Flat UI designs from years past, as these design choices where then replicated on other platforms. Even now, Android 16 which was just released and rolling out to Android devices are now using the Transparency and Blur effects in the UI, the only difference is they call it Material Design 3. No, nobody is asked if that is what they want.

Again, feature requests is exactly what the Feedback link is for. You can tell us what you want and there is no one that is going to accommodate your request or even forward your request to Apple. Those that did use the Feedback link for feature requests may be pleasantly surprised for what's to come. While iOS 26.2 is currently in beta (Release Candidate phase), we cannot discuss any of the changes that are found there. Stay tuned!, hopefully the feedback others have sent align with what you are looking for or if you did send the feedback, you may see exactly what you are looking for.

Is there any way to revert to iOS 18? Rather than stand on my head, rub my tummy and hope I can undo some of the damage this has done to my phone I'd prefer to go back.

No, you cannot revert back to iOS 18. It has never been supported on any iOS versions so nothing specific to iOS 26. It is also not clear if you are referring to the WhatsApp problem from the post you replied to or if you are talking about something completely different. I would recommend to create a new post with whatever you are referring to and provide the specifics along with screenshots if that helps to visualize what you are seeing.

If you simply don't like it and want to go back, then that has already been answered and you will see the Feedback link that has also been posted to let Apple know. Or you can just sit back and wait to see if anything changes.

I am totally disgusted with this iOS 26.1 definitely my battery power is drastically being used up. Before the update I couldgo the whole day without even having to charge it. I have done nothing different. Now I need to charge it before the end of the day. With regards to all the other changes like Apple Music app that also sync with my car my photos it seems like they want to change things just to prove they have a reason to be there and want us to constantly be changing our brain connection just to negotiate what they throw at us. It has made it more difficult to negotiate and you need to take even extra steps to get to a point where you seamlessly would have had less steps to get where you want to go? Adding background colors that make it harder for you to see or read it’s very annoying to the point where you wonder if it’s worth it to have an Apple phone. Even the microphone dictation has many more glitches than it used to. They should’ve stuck to security updates and stop messing around with background colors workable features. Bring back the previous simple steps rather than complicated and adding more steps Apple you have lost your way.

If you haven’t installed 26.1 do not do it until you see further down the road that they have learned from their errors and brought back some of the simplicity of using an iPhone.

No offense but I don't care and I can't make any changes in iOS 26.1. You need to tell Apple how you feel:

I've been using iOS 26.1 since the day it was released. I like it and it works well for me.

My old iPhone SE (2nd generation) which functioned seamlessly for nearly 5 years is not the same phone since installing the iOS 26.1. I was hesitant to do it, but bit the bullet a couple days ago; I wish i'd listened to my gut. My phone is now a glitchy piece of junk. I can't make any calls out and none come in, there's lag time for some functions and buttons are non-responsive. The whole reconfiguration of the layout is annoying and stress inducing especially w no ability to make calls. This morning I went to the big box electronic store where a tech ran a "diagnostic" check only to tell me he could find nothing related to the update install preventing calls. He suggested I see my phone service provider who switched out my old sim card and for a few hours I could make phone calls. Later today... i'm back to no phone service. I've tried everything short of a factory reset for which I have no storage or Mac book for a backup.

My issue is the keyboard diminishingly in size. I have the iPhone SE gen 3, and it seems like they make the UI exclusively for their better phones. I feel a bit cheered because my phone should still be supported. How do I get a bigger keyboard like the one from 18?

My SE keyboard is no smaller than before and is as big as it gets.

Use a hollow rubber point stylus or use keyboard hoeprizontally.

The new layouts are childish and were not necessary.
Mr Apple, if it aint broke, then do not try to fix it.
Thank you for stuffing up my phone.

I am using a smaller screen SE3 model and my wife has the SE2 model. The iOS26.1 update seems to not have been designed for smaller screen models because words are overlapped in at least once screen mode. Furthermore, I cannot set the Tabs screen option of Compact to my phone so the tabs are taking up far too much of the viewing screen in Safari, emails, viewing videos on host sites like YouTube. In fact, since most of the viewable screen is covered by the tab bubble while attempting to view a YouTube video, I cannot even reach the play/pause button so the video repeats endlessly in the background on other screens until I close that tab in Safari. Also when typing in emails and texts, the keyboard bubble takes up nearly 1/3 of the viewable screen. And finally, when typing a text, the screen no longer automatically follows the lead of my message so I cannot see what I am typing after a few lines, forcing me scroll down to see what I am typing. iOS26.1 has major issues that need to be corrected immediately. I'd gladly go back to the prior iOS I was using if there was a safe way to do so without losing content. I see that there is now a iOS26.2 version. I assume that this has corrected some of the many issues but I am not going to do any further updates until I hear that the issues I am experiencing are corrected. HELP!!!
