On my iPhone 15 Pro Max, I had several photos in the "Hidden" folder, but now when I open that folder, it’s empty and doesn’t contain any photos. I have the same problem on my MacBook Pro M1. The photos were synced between these devices, but now I can’t see them. Where can I find the lost photos?

By "photos were synced between these devices," do you mean that you used iCloud Photos to synchronize the Photos Libraries on your Mac and phone? If so, what do you see at iCloud.com?
Do you use Time Machine (or similar) to backup your Mac? Do you see these pictures on your backups?

Look here If you're missing photos or videos in the Photos app - Apple Support (IE)
Since you said you were syncing them to the Mac, what you do on one device reflects on the other. ie if you delete from mac it deletes from iphone.
