iPhone 12 Pro Max powers on when charging

While my question is still why does my iPhone 12 Pro Max powers on charging I was just thinking why don’t I turn my iPhone into recovery mode but while that’s not the option I’m considering for now because I’ve done that already and recovery mode doesn’t have other ways to take off recovery mode while it was done already, it needs computer with a subscription to take off recovery mode and I’ve done that with my own laptop not a computer

iPhones always power on when charging, even if they were fully shut down. This is intentional design, not a bug, and there’s no setting to prevent it.

Why iPhones Power On When Charging

  • Battery protection logic: iOS must actively manage charging to prevent overheating or unsafe voltage.
  • System management: The operating system monitors charging rate, temperature, and battery health in real time.
  • Removed feature: Apple discontinued the ability to “charge while powered off” years ago, so modern iPhones always boot up when charging.

If your iPhone is completely drained, you’ll first see the empty battery icon before iOS boots up. Once enough power is available, the phone automatically turns on.
