I am massively frustrated as I updated to iOS 26 and now when I swipe right to mark the text unread, it starts a reply (I don't need to swipe to reply...I can just start typing!). And when I hold the message down, it doesn't give the optino to mark unread. Has anyone figured out how to mark a text message unread in iOS 26? I really super duper hate this update. I am on an iPhone 15.

There was a glitch and after resetting this is now resolved. Not sure how to "close" the post.
Good to hear that it has been resolved and thanks for the update. The post will remain open in case others run into the problem and you can unsubscribe from the post by unselecting the "Bell" icon so you do not receive any email notifications if you wish.
I read your initial post and could not reproduce the problem, so did not have any valuable information to provide and had not seen it reported anywhere else where I could refer you to a solution. For me it works exactly as you described by swiping right and tapping the icon.
Mark as unread works just fine for me. (iPhone 17 Pro, iOS 26.1)
