iPhone front facing camera face id fails even with slide cover open

Hello,

my iPhone 11 iOS 18.5 front facing camera face id has stopped working when I added a slide cover over the front camera.

Q1: however, when I slide the front facing camera cover to the left, which exposes the camera, the face ID should work, right?

Q2: also I'm wondering what the front facing top bits are, as there's a camera on the middle right and there's also something on the middle left?

Please take your time to read Q1 again.

The front facing camera cover, slides left and right:

  • Left slide uncovers the camera.
  • Right slide covers the camera.

I have noticed the front facing camera has bits to the left and right though, but I don't know what the are (the big camera to the right would be the camera I'm guessing), but the left or right bits are covered with the slide cover.

Thank you Alancito for the quality post.

Seems that I need to search for another type of camera slider cover, that also doesn't interfere with the phone's view of the top right Network and Battery information.

or

Apple could remove the redundant top left clock, as the large clock is much easier.

Then move the top right Network and Battery icons to top left.

Then less important new top right info can be covered by the camera slider cover rather than covering the infrared camera and dot projector.
