I have the same issue with a pair of headphones and a different brand of earphones, my iPhone will connect to them via Bluetooth but will not play sound through them. I can use the buttons on the devices to pause or play music but my phone will only play sound through it's speaker.
Please help :/

First go to BT settings and forget the devices.
Then force restart the phone Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
Then add one back and ensure type is Headphones,

That kind of works, with varying success. But then it stops working as soon as I disconnect the headphones.
I'm looking for a more permanent fix.
Maybe you need Apple headphones.
Phone will connect to headphones but not play audio through them.
