Grey patch on screen after sequoia 15.7.3 upgrade for Macbook Pro 2018

I have a macbook pro 2018 model. It was on Sequoia 15.7.2 until yesterday and everything was working fine.

I got an upgrade notification yesterday and I chose to upgrade to Sequoia 15.7.3. However, since the upgrade

I am getting a grey patch on my screen right in the middle. The patch is about 2 inch wide and spans top to bottom of the screen.

Quick search on google, I see some people mentioning 15.7.3 upgrade came with some non-compatible Tahoe 26.2 updates. I also remember some mention of Tahoe in the upgrade information box when I chose to upgrade.

I tried restarting, changing the resolution etc, but it just doesn't go. Anyone facing same issue or know how to fix this?

Does it show up on an external display when mirrored?

If an external display has the same problem, your graphics chip acceleration could be messed up. The Power/Energy Saver settings can change what graphics chip

acceleration you are getting under the Apple menu -> System Settings.

If an external display does not show the same problem, excess flexing of the display can damage the inverter cable causing banding and eventual discoloration. When you feel resistance forcing back the display, that's the limit you can push it back. Any more, and the cables between the display the board beneath the keyboard can get flexed and damaged.

I checked by connecting an external display through an HDMI cable. It does not show the patch on external display. I checked power settings, nothing obvious there to indicate the problem.

This grey patch occurs both on battery and on adapter.

There is no excess flexing of display, I can say for sure. It only started happening after the 15.7.3 update reboot.

Before that, there was no such patch.

First, that sounds like total nonsense, typical babel online.

I only have an iMac Pro on Sequoia 15.7.3 and I have no gray patch. If I had to guess, since the problem doesn't occur on an external display, there's is a problem with the display itself. If you take a screen shot instead of using a camera and it doesn't show in that, it's definitely the display.

If so, it's just a coincidence it showed after the update.
