How can I close a grouped app with a single gesture instead of a sequence of gestures?

I group all of my apps on my Home Screen, and really like being able to do that. After the update though when I exit an app it exits to the group container and not the Home Screen, meaning that I have to tap again to get back to the Home Screen.

How can I change this?I don't want to have to use a sequence of gestures every every time I want to close an app, I just want to swipe the app closed and be back to my Home Screen with one gesture.

That is not the way it has ever worked and also confirmed on an iPhone X using iOS 16. When you close an app that was launched from a folder, it returns to that folder. I understand that is not what you are looking to accomplish, just wanted to make you aware that the update did not change that behavior. You can send feedback to Apple here:
