Best way to take advandage of an external SSD (USB 3.1) on a imac 2017 model (1TB HDD)
Hi all!!
I have the following configuration on my 1TB internal HDD:
- 850 GB MacOS Mojave
- 150 GB Windows 10 (Bootcamp)
I have a new 500 GB external SSD (USB 3.1) compatible with mac.
I bought it for a purpose (option 4), but exploring the internet I found out that I have many options to use it including:
- MacOS Mojave (copy)
- Windows 2 go
- Virtualization of windows (or other operating system) with VMware fusion, parallels etc (bad option for gaming)
- Use it as an external storage on mac or bootcamp (gaming , videos, etc)
My question (if someone has come across this question) is what is the optimal usage of the external SSD for my case, putting as first priority the improvement of fps in gaming, as for storage all the options work. And I am very pleased with the performance of Mojave and Bootcamp in running all the applications except games (good performance but not high end).
Any thoughts on this will be welcome!!!
Thanx in advance!!
