startup difficulty

My old iMac desktop won't start up. When I turn on the computer, it shows appl3 logo and progress bar, which instead of progress bar shows white blank bar that says blank forever. So, I can't tart up my computer.

How can I resolve this problem?

Try an SMC reset:

Try starting up in Safe Mode:

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support

If neither of those work boot into Recovery and Reinstall Mac OS.

About macOS Recovery - Apple Support

Try Single User Mode (hold command-s keys)

At the prompt, enter this command:

/sbin/fsck -fy

Press the Return key.

This will check your directory and report that it was OK or repaired. Then enter this command to startup normally:

reboot

Run Apple Diagnostics

Press and hold the d key on startup:

Try booting into Safe Mode. If it's successful then do a normal reboot.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing some system cache cleaning, volume verifying and directory repairing.

If the problem persists boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down), select Disk Utility and run first aid on the drive. If there any errors reported and reported as fixed rerun till there's no reported errors. Reboot normally.

If the problem still persists reboot into Recovery volume and reinstall the system.
