Photos app on MacBook Pro

I have a new MacBook Pro running on OS Mojave 10.14.6. I bought a USB-C adapter in order to plug my phone in to the laptop but when this is done the photos app continues to open constantly causing me to not be able to do anything because if I exit the app in reopens right away.

Anyone else have this problem or have a fix?

When the Photos.app launches click the iPhone in the sidebar, then look for the checkmark "Open Photos for this device". Disable this checkmark. After this, Photos should no longer open automatically, when the iPhone is plugged in. You will then have to launch Photos manually, if you want to import photos from the iPhone.
