When trying to transfer my photos from my iPhone to my macbook pro, I am only getting very few of the latest pictures as visible and downloadable in photos. So I cannot transfer all my latest pictures to my macbook. Anyone has an idea how to solve this?
This can happen if iCloud Photos is activated on the iPhone and photos are being optimized down to almost nothing.

Either use iCloud Photos for its intended purpose (syncing photos and edits among your devices) by enabling iCloud Photos on the MacBook or turn off iCloud Photos on the iPhone (and wait for the photos to load back down to the phone).
Have you tried using Image Capture to download the photos to a folder on the Desktop and then import from there into your library?
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried with image capture but i still do not see the pictures from my iPhone on my macbook. Is there something else I need to do with image capture to make it happen?

In system preferences icloud if You use the same Apple id as on the iphone turn on Icloud photo library and they will appear in photos app on mac os
