Trying to download on my App Store

Hello, I seem to be having difficulty downloading apps on the App Store that are Free. Every time I try to install something it takes me to my payment options and says my card cannot be verified. I’ve had this card on my phone for months and it’s only recently started doing this. I don’t understand why I can no longer download anything free off the App Store without it taking me to payment options which, for some reason no longer seem to be working. Help?
