Facetime camera being used by another app

I use my iPhone XS Max to FaceTime my wife's iPad. After the connection I select the camera flip to view from the rear camera on my iPhone. As soon as I do, I get the Camera being used by another application on my iPhone and the iPad gets Paused. Once this happens it freezes. We are running the latest iOS 13 on both devices.

The iPhone that is associated with the iPad works just fine when flipping camera in FaceTime. Also when calling from iPad to my iPhone the camera flip works on the iPad just not on my iPhone.

Hey MajorIP4,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

I understand from your post that your iPhone XS Max is having an issue switching from front camera to rear camera when on FaceTime. I'd be happy to help out.

First, I'd like for you to test a hard restart of your device when it freezes:

Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

If you're still having issues, I'd like for you to backup and restore your iPhone as new to test:

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

Let us know if this helps.

Cheers!
