Viewing pictures not yet organized into Albums with Catalina

How can I view all of the pictures in Photos that have not yet been organized into Albums with Catalina?


Wondering how to know which pictures have not yet been organized so that I can organize them.

You can use a smart album to find all photos, that are not in any album:

  • Use the command "File > New Smart Album"
  • Change the rule of the smart album to "Album > Is Not > Any"

This album will only contain photos that have not been added to any album. But to keep this work-around working, do not delete albums, without removing the photos from the album, before you delete the album. This is currently a bit buggy in Photos 5.0 on Catalina, see:
