Can I update Yosemite to Catalina?

My MacBook Pro is from 2009 and currently has Yosemite. Found Catalina in the app store but said it was unable to be downloaded....

No your mac does not meet the hardware requirements for macOS Catalina, as Neil says you can upgrade to

Mac OS X El Capitan, read and follow the instructions in this Apple article,

How to upgrade to OS X El Capitan – Apple Support

Make a full back up of your mac before upgrading.


Mac OS X El Capitan is the last OS you can upgrade to.
