How do I get rid of this "1" I don't want to update to Catalina as it slows my Mac right down and programmes take ages to open.

Thanks

Can you not ignore the update?

You can jump the hoops but it is tenacious this notification, You can try from the Terminal.app

from the Terminal.app copy and paste:

sudo softwareupdate --ignore "macOS Catalina"

 then followed by:

defaults write com.apple.systempreferences AttentionPrefBundleIDs 0 && Killall Dock
