Track GPS while skating with Apple Workout

Is it possible to track GPS while skating outside with the Apple Watch?

I just finished my workout and it doesn’t look that way. Is it possible to enable GPS for a workout type?

I did select skating, as I was skating. I know GPS will work for walk-in, running and cycling. But it would be great if it’s possible to enable GPS tracking for skating.

Did you select a Workout type before skating?

Workout types on Apple Watch - Apple Support

I would suggest an Outdoor Walking or Running workout (see the above link). If you have a watch with GPS capability (or also have your iPhone with you), then the GPS should track your progress during the workout.

I have to agree, I want to be able to see how many miles I’ve been skating. It’s kinda dumb that I can’t see that even though I could press on walk... because I’m pretty sure the calorie count is different. Or am I wrong and should just be using the walking workout?
