My Mac book pro suddenly won’t charge and it turned off , I tried restarting smc but it didn’t work?

Does the MacBook Pro (Which model is it?) work when it is directly connected to electrical power? If YES and the battery is not charging then you are right that you may have a dead battery at your hands. ➔ Reseting SMC will not work to fix a dead battery.
