How can I use photos and videos from a shared album to make an iMovie?

My wife and I used a shared album for a our trip to Italy. Now in iMovie I want to add media from that shared album and it won't let me. How can I add that media

Not something I have done, but I believe that you need to download the photo or video to your Mac before you can use it in iMovie. Select the photo or video then control-click>Import.
