If I click on the Messages icon to include a person to share with, is a message supposed to show.

I’m trying to add a person to share a folder with in Notes. When I click on the Message icon, I get a message: “Uploading File.”. Then the spinning gear stops and nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a size limit for a folder for sharing?
