Upgrade to Catalina or not, that is the question

I have a 13inch Early 2015 MacBook Air running Mojave 10.14.6 OS plus Office 2008 for Mac v 12.0.0 (071130). Am I able to update to Catalina without corrupting / limiting my Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) or will I have to upgrade my office suite

The big thing about Catalina its that it does not open 32bit apps, it only runs 64bit apps.

Have you not been paying attention to the warnings you get in Mojave.

As you are running older software from 2008 it is probable it is either fully 32bit

or has 32bit elements. So no Office 2008 will not work, you will need to update your

Office Suite.

To check for 32bit software on your mac before upgrading download this app,

https://www.stclairsoft.com/Go64/


Check with Microsoft to see what versions of Office you can use on Catalina.

I think you can use Office 2016, but there may be issues with Outlook.

Office 365 and Office 2019 should work, but confirm for your self.
