Resetting iPod Touch without apple id info

My brother passed away in September 2018. Recently, we found his old iPod touch in a box of his belongings. I do not have access to his apple id password, and the iPod keeps telling me that he had the "Find my iPhone" feature turned on. Is there any way for me to bypass this feature so that we can make the device usable again?

Hello,

The iPod touch is locked with Activation Lock. There is no way around unlocking Activation Lock without inserting the device’s associated Apple ID. Since this is not an option for you then you will need to find the original purchase receipt. You would then need the executor of the deceased's estate to take the device and receipt to an Apple retail location.
