Macbook Pro crashes on startup after clean install

I recently bought a MacBook Pro 16 inch (Late 2019) and within a few days of ownership (About 6 battery cycles) the MBP crashes at about three quarters through the progress bar after logging in, if I use safe mode I can get past logging in but at about the same three quarters mark the screen goes black with visual glitches, comes back and then resumes like normal. I have tried resetting the SMC, PVRAM, Clean installing MacOS (Catalina) and it still crashes at the same exact point

Is there anything else to try that I haven't thought of yet? Or is it a hardware issue?

You have done what you can do to get the basic troubleshooting out of the way as far as software issues are concerned. What concerns me is that the issue is duplicated at the same point during boot even after a clean installation of macOS. The point during the boot sequence that you are referring to is when the GPU is initialized. It appears that your MacBook Pro does not survive the boot sequence past that point.


I recommend that it is time to take advantage of the Apple 1 Year Limited Warranty on your MacBook Pro (Should still be valid). You can have your MacBook Pro examined at the Apple Store or an Authorized Service Center when they open or contact ➔ Apple Support
