Why doesn't my iPad show up on my finder list?

I'm trying to download some photos but my iPad does not show up on the finder list.

And in my photos, it just keeps hopping up and down, like something is blocking it.

On High Sierra, iOS devices do not appear in Finder at all.

You can use the Photos App or Image Capture to get the photos out of the iPad.

You may need to trust the computer you are connecting the iPad to, before it will be seen.
