Lock keyboard and trackpad

Is it possible to lock the keyboard and trackpad on a MacBook using some keyboard function and then to unlock again? I'm looking for the keys to not do anything nor the trackpad to do anything.

This locks the screen, not the keyboard and trackpad only.

If the idea is to prevent tampering while you step away from the keyboard, you use a combination of things:

System preferences > Security & Privacy > Require password [ immediately | nnn minutes ] after sleep or screensaver begins.

then manually sleep your Mac or manually start the screensaver with a "sleep-corner", or wait for the screensaver timed start.
