Catalina freezing after update to 10.15.6

My Mac Book is maybe 4 weeks old. It updated over the weekend to 10.15.6 and this morning its freezing/hanging about 2-5 mins. No color wheel and only 2 applications show as running Finder and SAFARI.

The hanging seems to happen in a few different ways 1. complete system where mouse and keyboard are frozen 2. where it's just the applications and the mouse still functions but nothing happens eg moving a window, resize or selecting.

I checked in activity monitor and plenty of memory, CPU and GPU available. no new applications have been installed.

Anyone else seeing this?
