iCloud keeps displaying my old email

I can't sign into iCloud to erase my lost phone because it is using my old email address and won't let me change it to the current one (which I've been using for several months)

Hey strangevista

Unfortunately the email that you originally linked with iCloud cannot be changed. You can add "recovery email addresses". But the email address that you used to create the iCloud account cannot be changed.

It can be a pain in the butt, but that's how it works as of now.

I misread your original problem. I apologize.

My dad actually had that happen to him when he had the iPhone 4.

It’s a security feature so the phone’s data cannot be deleted by any random person. Only someone with the necessary credentials.

If you dont remember the password for that old AppleID, you may need to bring it in to an Apple Store and have them bypass that security feature.

It can be a difficult problem to solve, but an Apple-Certified Tech should be able to help!
