Why isn’t iPad Pro Gen 2 listed as compatible with the Magic keyboard 12.9?

The Apple Store doesn’t list the Magic Keyboard as being compatible with IPad Pro’ 12.9 Gen 2. Can anyone say why that is?

The Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro has its magnetic connector pins/pads in a completely different location than older iPad Pro models.

The iPad Pro Magic keyboard is design for the newest 2018/2020 design iPad Pro models.

Plus, the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pros acts as a case for the newer design 2018.2020 models.

So, this Magic keyboard/case will NOT fit the older model iPad Pros.

Also, their magnetic connection pins/pads are on the back panel of the newer 2018/2020 iPad Pro models.

On older iPad Pro models, the magnetic connection pins/pads are on the sides of the iPad.

Location of these pins are in a totally different location.

That Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro is NOT compatible with any 2015-2017 iPad Pro models.

Sorry.

There are different Magic Keyboards, which is confusing yes.

The Magic keyboards referred to here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204759

are the standalone Mac keyboards.

This one: Magic Keyboard - US English - Apple

and this one: Buy Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad for Mac in Space Gray - Apple

Those 2, are compatible with any model of iPad yes.

The Magic Keyboard for iPad linked to by anonyme4321, is a different keyboard case meant for use only with 3rd and 4th gen 12.9" iPad Pros.

There was a previous version iPad Pro keyboard compatible with 1st and 2nd gen 12.9" iPad Pros.

Confusing I know.

This confusion stems from the product naming - in that the “Magic Keyboard” (of which there are two principal variants and colour options) and “Magic Keyboard for iPad” (two variants, one each for the 11” and 12.9” 2018/2020 models of iPad Pro) are entirely different Apple products...

Magic Keyboard

The Apple Magic Keyboard is a standalone keyboard for Mac and iPad - compatible with most recent models of iPad and all generations of iPad Pro.

Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro

The Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro is designed for - and compatible with - the first and second generation 11” iPad Pro and the third and fourth generation 12.9” iPad Pro (both with USB-C connector and FaceID)

Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro 11‑inch (2nd generation) - US English

Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro 12.9‑inch (4th generation) - US English

I hope this clarification is helpful in removing any remaining confusion as to compatibility.

Why isn’t iPad Pro Gen 2 listed as compatible with the Magic keyboard 12.9?
