In the Apple TV app, can you watch live sports?

In the Apple TV app, can you watch live sports? I tried to watch part of the Stanley Cut series today through NBCSN, and after 5 minutes I got cut off, saying I had to go through a cable provider. I thought I could go through Apple TV?

Access to sports programs generally require a subscription with that content provider, or with a TV provider (choice of the network).

The Apple TV app on the iPhone or iPad or Apple TV box is able to link to external apps for e.g. sports content.

The Apple TV app on Macs is not able to do so. You will have to sign in through web access for that type of content.
