My Macbook pro refused to boot from USB

I created a usb disk for mojave to boot and clean install my Macbook pro 2012 Mid edition.

Each time I press the option key to install from usb, it never comes up with option for the usb to boot instead it just goes to the hard disk option.

Is the usb boot faulty? I bought a new usb disk and tried the same I had the same problem.

Kindly help with a solution.

Thanks

Try a PRAM reset (hold the PRAM reset for at least three chimes).

Did you create the Mojave USB installer using these Apple instructions?

Macs can be picky about the USB sticks used for booting so try a different brand of USB stick.

When you Option Boot do you see the Mojave installer USB stick?

What problem are you having with the laptop that you need to re-install macOS? Maybe the problems are related.
