iPhone 11 Pro Max no longer recognises my Face ID or 4 Digit Pin-code

Since updating to iOS 14 my phone is no longer recognizing my Face ID or 4 Digit Pincode. Another issue that has arisen today was my iPhone will "disable" itself. I left my phone locked in my office (there is no chance that someone tried putting in the code) and came back to it disabled for 12 minutes. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Is your iPhone, at present, in the disabled stage? If it is NOT then do the following-

Try and Force Restart your iPhone exactly as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF).

If your iPhone is Disabled then you will need to reset the passcode as shown below-

You can reset your passcode by following the instructions in this article by Apple ➔ How to reset your passcode on a disabled iPhone. You will need a computer for this task and all your data on your iPhone will be wiped clean in the process.

If you have a backup created then you can ➔ Restore Your iPhone from that backup file. If you do not have a backup file created then you will lose all your data on the iPhone.

If Photos, Messages and Contacts are synced to iCloud then you will be able to retrieve them after setting up iCloud on your iPhone after you reset the passcode and sign into iCloud.
