Connecting a Macbook Pro to iMac as second screen?

Hi, I was told today that it is not possible anymore to connect a macbook pro to iMac as second screen. Can this be verified? I'm contemplating buying an iMac but if I cannot hook it up to my Macbook Pro I'm hesitating to buy.

Thanks

That is correct, Target Display Mode was only supported by a few iMac models between Late 2009 thru 2014.

If you need a larger second display for the MacBook Pro, then you will need to get an aftermarket display.
