Transfer MacBook Air to granddaughter

I wish to give my wife’s old MacBook Air to our granddaughter. What do I need to do? If I create an apple ID for her, will all the apple software still work and update ok?

I think your purchased Apple softwares won't be installed on the MacBook Air you give away to granddaughter if you create Apple ID for her.
