How do I install MS Office on my mac book mid 2010 edition ?

I have OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 version installed on my macbook. When I go to App store and click install it says :

We could not complete your purchase

(null) can’t be installed on “Drive C” because OS X version 10.14 or later is required.

I guess I have the latest version OS X Capitan which is 10.11.6 but still I am unable to install any of these apps.

Please help.

Thank You

MacBook, OS X 10.11

You can't install it. MS Office requires 10.14 as a minimum and your Mac can run 10.13 as a maximum.

You'll have to use an alternative such as LibreOffice or the iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote) - which is already on your Mac.
