Why can I click on sign in button for the Apple ID log in

When I go to Sign in to your Apple ID in System Preferences the “sign in” button is basically greyed out


how can I resolve this and log in? Thank you

When that happens to me it's because he Mac is busy doing something else, exactly where is this happening, sep by step?


Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.


Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
