Macbook Air display issue

In the last month my MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2020) is occasionally flickering--in the sense that rectangular sections in random places appear on the screen, each section resembling static what you'd see on old TV static. They last less than a second.

I can find no correlation yet on what I'm doing on the Macbook (what applications running or whether I'm plugged in or running off battery) when this situation occurs.

Any ideas?

thanks

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.15

This could be caused by a number of problems with software or hardware.

I would recommend contacting Apple Support directly, but here are some things you can try before then:

  1. How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support
  2. Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
  3. Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac - Apple Support
  4. How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support
  5. How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support (This should be the last thing you try if nothing else on this list works.)

Again, please contact Apple Support. This list is only a general set of guidelines for troubleshooting issues.
