My wireless printer and mac are on the same network. the printer is connected, but it won't show up when I try to add printer in preferences. Mac os 11

Why won't my Brothers HL-L2340dw printer connect to my computer and other iOS devisces? Everything is on the same network, I've spent hours researching and trying all suggestions. Mechanically the printer works. I have a wifi range extender but the only thing connect to it is a TV in a far upper bedroom.

Hi,

Assuming that the network is created by a Wi-Fi router (infrastructure mode), please double-check that the problem is not related to different networks with similar names but with two frequencies (2.4 and 5 GHz).

Also, have you tried the following?

Power off the router, the printer, the computer, the iOS devices, and all other connected devices. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait another two or three minutes. Power on the printer. Wait a minute or two. Power on the computer. Finally, power on the iOS devices, and all other connected devices. Any change?

Hey there vdalbora,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand you’re having issues using your Brother HL-L2340DW printer with your Mac using AirPrint. We’ll be happy to help.

It looks like this printer should be compatible. Have you checked for any updates to the printer firmware from the manufacturers website? If not, do that and go through the steps in these links for ways to resolve the issue:

Take care.

Thank you barberlives123

I have done all you suggestions and even had a Brother's tech support on the phone for over an hour. The printer was working good on all my devices up until 4 days ago. Mechanically the printer works as we have been able to run test prints from the printer. I have a wifi range extender that I unplugged thinking that it may be a cause for interference, but that didn't solve the problem. Without knowing how wireless printers work I'm suspecting that something has gone wrong internally that is can't send a "signal" to my devices. Even though it says its connected.
