Apple TV streaming audio

Hello, hope you can help.

I was looking to purchase an Apple TV so that I can connect it to my surround sound 5.1 amplifier and stream audio from my iPhone or iPad using Spotify.

whilst I am listening to audio I would not want the television picture to be on.

I have a plasma TV and don’t want a static picture on screen.

can you please advise if this is possible.

many thanks, Allan.

AirPlay of audio sources will turn on the TV, as the Apple TV box will produce a video signal. Use AirPlay to stream audio - Apple Support. It won’t be truly static though, as Spotify AirPlay has album artwork to show.

To not use the TV at all with music, invest in a receiver that has its own audio AirPlay support. AirPlay 2-enabled receivers - Apple
