Apple Mail continues to try to connect to a deleted account - repeatedly.

I removed an old unwanted Email Account from Internet Accounts in system preferences. Apple Mail continues to try to connect to it - repeatedly, even though the account is now removed. What can I do to get Apple Mail to forget this old account?

Hi! To remove this account on iOS or iPadOS, go to Settings>Mail>Accounts>Account That You Want To Remove>Delete Account

on macOS go to the Mail app, and jn the menu bar select Mail and click Preferences. Find Accounts and remove your deleted account.

Best Regards, Nikola
