My display blacklight at 45 degrees shows vertical lines

Hello Guys, My name is Guilherme S. and I am from Brazil. I've always been a fan of the Apple's brand, but I'm starting to doubt it's quality. Seriously!

Recently, my MacBook Pro (MacBook Pro 13-inch, 2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) which I take care of very well and which has never been crashed, had a display problem. When it's open to more than 45 degrees, the display backlight does not work well and shows vertical lines/areas lit continuously or intermittently. Again, strange to say, because it was never beaten.

But the worst part was when I searched for Apple's service in Brazil and I discovered that my computer was not eligible for the warranty. In this case, only MacBook Pros which presented the same problem sold between October 2016 and February 2018 were eligible for the warranty.

Strange, at least.

Sincerely, I would like to record my dissatisfaction with what happened and would like to know when Apple will make the warranty available for my MacBook Pro, since I cannot pay for a new display?

Hope to have a positive answer from Apple.

Best Regards, Salgado

Hi Guilherme Salgado,

Welcome to the Apple Community, where some of us do our best to help each other :)

As we are all Apple users here, just like you, Apple will not see your "Post" to us.

If you want, you can send feedback to Apple:

Here is the webpage for sending feedback:

Below is Apple Support's article about warranty for the affected Macs,

explaining whichMacs are faulty, and eligible for the backlight program.:

https://support.apple.com/13-inch-macbook-pro-display-backlight-service

Seems your Mac version may not be affected in the same way as that particular problem.

So, am wondering about the cause of the situation with your Mac.

You might want to check that you have enough memory / storage (at least 50 Gb free) for the smooth operation of your Mac

Unfortunately this display cable issue exists on all of the USB-C Apple laptops even though Apple only has acknowledged the issue with the 2016 MBPro 13" model. Since this issue has existed with all USB-C Apple laptops and Apple has not acknowledged the 15" models or the 2017 models after nearly four years I do not expect them to do so now since most Apple free repair programs only cover issues for three to four years anyway. The only way this could change is if one of the pending lawsuits forces Apple to address the issue.
