Photos People Updating message

I get the "People will finish updating when Photos is in the background" message but it never does finish. This has been going on for months. I have tried leaving Photos open and minimizing it, closing Photos, opening and leaving in foreground, all while plugged in. Nothing seems to make a difference.

depending on the size of your library, how often you match faces, and how often you add images, the process may continually run and display that message.

One possible solution is to:

Quit photos

Open Activity Monitor

Look for a process named "photoanalysisd"

Quit the process (octagon with the "x" inside near the top of the window)

And then open photos

That will effectively restart the process.

You could also shutdown and restart your Mac

Of course, that will likely kick off the whole process again...
