2 ipads with one apple ID

I have an ipad that uses a separate apple ID that I created when I bought it for my daughter, I am now looking to buy another ipad for my son and I would like it to basically be exactly the same as the first ipad (same apps, settings etc), to achieve this is it just a simple case of logging into the new ipad with the same apple ID and it should download everything? Do I have to manually setup the parental controls again etc for the new ipad?

Any help would be most appreciated.

iPad, iOS 12

Click on this link --> https://support.apple.com/HT201269 to learn how to "Transfer data from your previous iOS device to your new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch". Select one of the three options: Quickstart, iCloud, or iTunes/Finder.

Alternatively backup the old iPad, then restore the new iPad from the backup, plus turn on iCloud (kind of what the previous link offers ).
