Unable to print from HP Laserjet p1005

I have upgraded to big sur and have manually installed driver for HP laserjet p1005. It shows idle while the USB is connected, but unable to print after "print command". The icon appears in bar with item in queue but disappears after few seconds.

Whereas, under Dell laptop while using windows 10, the printer is running smoothly.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.5

Hello,

Where did you find the driver that was installed? Which version and date?

Have you tried to reset the printing system? Did the operating system offer a suitable driver to use?

Add a printer on Mac - Apple Support

If necessary (and applicable), you may want to check whether the Dec 11, 2020 HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for macOS (https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US) package download from Apple would change anything. Look for something like the HP LaserJet P1005 1.6.1 driver mentioned in the referenced Printer and scanner drivers for Mac - Apple Support article.
