Cancel subscription that is already expired??

I received an email today (8/23/2021) from Apple saying that a subscription will renew on Sept. 14 and to cancel it I need to do it 24 hrs before it renews. When I go to Settings>subscriptions to try and cancel, it shows the subscription expired Sept 2020. There doesn't appear to be a way to cancel a subscription that has already expired. How can I be sure it doesn't renew?

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 14

Hello ~ Take a look at these steps and see if they help:

  1. Open the App Store app on iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap your profile icon in the top right corner.
  3. Tap on your name, then swipe down and tap on Subscriptions.
  4. You'll now see all the Active and Expired subscriptions tied to your Apple ID.
  5. Tap on one to cancel, change options, or see more information.
