Touchbar on my MacBook Pro is showing lines and pixels. Functions all work, but I cannot see any of the keys. I have tried resetting through Terminal with no luck. Any suggestions?

I have a 2016 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar that I bought new close to 5 years ago. I have had no issues with it whatsoever. Recently, my Touch Bar started showing lines and pixels across the entire display. All of the functions still worked, but I could not see any of the buttons, only the bright colored static look. One day, I opened my MacBook and all the keys were back, with no issues. However, recently the issue has returned, and has persisted for about a week now. The right of the Touch Bar is completely black, and the rest is showing the lines and pixels. All of the functions, including those in the right hand side, are working, but I cannot get the display back. I have tried resetting through terminal and also starting the computer in safe mode. Would definitely like to find a solution that does not require replacing the Touch Bar, as I might as well buy a new computer at that point.

The best you can do—

Try resetting the SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

(get at least two-three rounds of the chimes when holding the NRAM Reset)

if no resolve, it typically indicates a hardware issue.
