Superdrive not not play commercial dvd

Is new M1 iMac compatible with usb super drive, will not play movie dvd?

Yes it works but a) needs a USB plug adapter and b) should be plugged directly into the back of the iMac.


Personally when I was in the market for an external CD/DVD drive I also wanted some Blue Ray capabilities and selected one from www.macsales.com. If you do not want or need Blue Ray they have lots of drive to choose from that are better quality than the Apple external Superdrive.
