Swiping up

Hi, when I swipe up on my newly bought iPhone 12 I cant see it exit the app. It just goes straight to home page, i don’t know how to fix it

Cxar ~ Are you pausing in the middle of the screen before swiping up?...


  1. From the Home Screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle of the screen.
  2. Swipe right or left to find the app that you want to close.
  3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close the app.

Exiting an app typically isn’t necessary.


But for those cases where the app might be befuddled, here is how this is supposed to work:


Quit and reopen an app on iPhone - Apple Support


If you’re in the app switcher, you should see the app move upward corresponding to your upward drag and off the gallery and into app oblivion. Is that not happening here?
