Certain websites in safari showing up as black squared question marks, letters and symbols.

When I open certain websites in safari (Gibiru.com for example) and a few other random sites the whole page is filled with black squared question marks, symbols and letters(see pic below). i already tried restarting and restoring standard fonts. i made sure "western font" is chosen and "never use font sizes smaller then" is not checked in safari presences. i also don't use any extensions. i have a MacBook pro, late 2011 using macOS Sierra Version 10.12.6 (can't update any further). How can i resolve this problem? thanks.
