app will not close
How do you get an app to close if it does not close by swiping? It seems stuck and is causing my phone to freeze. A hard reset will not work

Never heard about that. What app are you talking about?
If you're sure that a "forced restart" (using these instructions:--> Force restart iPhone – Apple Support) doesn't solve your problem, make an appointment (*) and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> Apple – Location Selector. After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.
